There were no yeshivas left where The Revecha could place a boy like this, except
the kind where they lock the gates.
He would never agree to that.
So The Revecha found a government school where lots of kids, Jews and Arabs, had police records.
And I thought it can’t get any worse; I hit the bottom; it’s all over. From that moment on, I expected nothing but worms*
My son met me at his school; I had nothing to lose. He read to me from the kind of funny book I used to read [A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket];
We watched a movie he made, like I used to make. And I thought, hey! He is me?
I am he
as you are he
as you are me
and we are all together.*
And so I stopped crying. I wondered how that devil, The Revecha, knew that those kinds of books and movies were exactly my thing. In fact I’m sure she didn’t know, since how could she? Even I didn’t know.
But I do know this:
You can’t run away from the lady in black leather pants, because you can't run away from yourself.
